  • Maintenance | Gizmo Mods

Regular Race Bike Maintenance Daily After Riding Maintenance: Visually inspect race bike completely for obvious broken or worn parts. Prepare to wash, covering air filter or removing air filter completely and covering i ntake boot with appropriate cover to prevent water and debris from entering carburetor intake. Plug exhaust pipe to prevent water from entering exhaust system and soaking into silencer packing. Wash using non-caustic cleaning solution being careful not to spray high pressure directly on seals and bearings. Careful not to spray directly into carb vents, transm ission vents and cable entry. Once clean, wipe or blow dry. Re-install new or cleaned air filter. Do not run engine without an air filter ever! Apply a thin film of grease around the sealing edge of the filter where it mates to the air box. Once installed, feel around the entire sealing edge to assure air filter is properly seated. While engine is cool, check coolant level. Make sure radiator cap is re-installed completely. Remove the exhaust plug and start engine. Run for a couple minutes to assure no r esidual water migrated into the engine, exhaust or carburetor. r While engine is warm, drain the transmission/engine oil and replace with new oil. T o rque drain plugs to OEM spec. Take a moment to look at the oil for contaminants and or burnt clutch smell. Remove the oil fill plug until new oil is installed just as a reminder there is no oil in the engine. Remove ignition cover (2 strokes only) and blow out with air all debris, sand or water. Most 2 strokes ignition covers are not waterproof or dust-proof. Clean the stator cover i tself re-install and torque cover to OEM spec. Do not spray any inhibitors on ignition rotor or coils. Lube and adjust chain, careful not to overtighten. Lube the inside and outside of the chain. Never spin the wheel backwards. Inspect chain and sprockets for wear Never replace a chain or sprockets separately. Change as a set. Inspect front and rear chain guides and buffers for wear. Replace as needed. Inspect spokes in both front and rear wheels for proper tightness. Do not over tighten. Inspect air pressure in front and rear tires. Inspect all engine and chassis bolts and fasteners to proper OEM torque specs. Refuel as needed . H ourly During Riding Maintenance: Refuel as needed. Inspect air filter, replace before filter is completely coated with sand/dirt. Re-install new or cleaned air filter. Do not run engine without an air filter ever! Apply a thin film of grease around the sealing edge of the filter where it mates to the air box. Once installed, feel around the entire sealing edge to assure air filter is properly seated. Lube and adjust chain, careful not to over-tighten. Lube the inside and outside of the chain. Never spin the wheel backwards. Inspect chain and sprockets for wear. Never replace a chain or sprockets separately. Change as a set. Change transmission / engine oil every 1 to 2 hours of riding. Inspect front and rear Brake pads. Inspect front fork seals for leaking. Inspect rear shock seals and spring retainer nut. Inspect front and rear tire pressure. Inspect front and rear wheel spokes. Inspect all engine and chassis bolts and fasteners to proper OEM torque specs. Weekly Maintenance: Remove all plastic and body work. Inspect body pieces and chassis for broke or excessively worn items. Clean and reinstall or replace as needed. Remove front and rear wheels. Inspect axles and bearings for rust or excessive wear clean, lubricate and reinstall or replace as needed. Remove chain adjuster bolts completely from swing arm, lubricate with assembly lube and re-install. Remove front and rear brake master cylinder covers and inspect brake fluid. If brown, cloudy or discolored, flush out old fluid and replace with new. Remove Clutch Master Cylinder cover and inspect brake fluid. If brown, cloudy or discolored, flush out old fluid and replace with new. Inspect clutch system including clutch plates, spring height, outer basket, inner hub, and pressure plate for excessive wear and replace as needed. Look for bluing of metal plates or grooving of fiber plates, grooving of clutch basket fingers and/or wear lips on the pressure plate and inner hub. Inspect shock spring sag and ride height. Adjust as needed and set to rider preference. Inspect all engine and chassis bolts and fasteners to proper OEM torque specs. Perform compression check and log against new. 80% of new = rebuild. Inspect throttle cable for fraying. Do not reassemble with grease. Use dry-lube. Monthly Maintenance (15-20 Hours); Disassemble front steering stem and inspect for excessive wear, rusting or pitting in the bearings and races. Replace as needed. Lubricate and torque to OEM spec. Do NOT over grease the steering bearings. Disassemble swing arm and inspect swing arm bolt, bearings and spacer bushings for excessive wear, rusting or pitting. Replace as needed. Lubricate and torque to OEM spec. Disassemble shock linkage and inspect for excessive wear, rusting or pitting in bearings and spacer bushings. Replace as needed. Lubricate and torque to OEM spec. Remove shock assembly. Inspect for body damage. Inspect upper and lower bushings for excessive wear and replace as needed. Lube and torque to OEM Spec. All of the Gizmo products have been tested and developed using countless hours on the dyno and direct championship winning feedback from many top amateur and professional racers. By the time any of our products finally get on our website to sell, they all have been duely proven to be real performance enhancements. Gizmo Product Availability: We try to maintain a good stock of Gizmo products so when you need it, we have it. Due to demand and material availability, sometimes we may find ourselves out of stock on a particular item. We try hard to update the website when we run low or out of a product. Sometimes, the demand is such that a particular item might be available today but out of stock tomorrow. We will try our best to reflect current stock daily on our website. Gizmo Quality & Pride: We pride ourselves on quality control in both the fabrication and assembly of our products and rarely have any quality issues but.... if you do have questions concerning any of the Gizmo products, please feel free to contact us. Engine Work Policy: Gizmo has a "if it needs it, it gets it" policy. When sending us a used engine to build or rebuild, we examine each and every part. If a part shows excessive wear or needs to be replaced, we replace it which will typically be in addition to the work that is be performed. We reserve the right to refuse to build an engine that is beyond its useful life in our opinion. Use of Gizmo Mods products: We always suggest using the instructions or contacting us for the proper installations and care of your new Gizmo Product. Some items require no maintenance and others may have certain service limits and/or regular maintenance intervals. Always feel free to contact us to ensure you get the best service life and reliability from your new Gizmo Product. Returns: We usually do not get our products returned, but in the event that something needs to be returned, please contact us to discuss the details. Shipping: In general, unless otherwise requested, all outgoing shipments from Gizmo Mods are sent regular ground. Shipment of engines, engine parts, etc. to Gizmo Mods: Please do not ship items to be repaired, modified, or rebuilt without contacting us "Prior" to shipping so we can be expecting its arrival and enter into the work schedule. Shipping containers: Please ship your engines in sturdy containers that will survive the shipping trauma. Please do not ship engines in cardboard boxes or soft side luggage. They make engine shipping crates, but they are very expensive and hard to get sometimes. We suggest just a nice Igloo type cooler. Your engine can be wrapped in towels or shipping type padding tight enough to keep your expensive engine from sliding around inside. Please do not ship with oil in your engine. If your new engine build requires a lot of parts, often there will be a second small box with the extra parts shipped separately. Turnaround time: We take pride that most of the time we can get most engine work, builds, etc. done within 2 weeks. That of course is based on parts availability and how extensive your particular build is. Payment: Much of our business is through Credit card and Paypal. We do accept cash and can accept bank checks. Checks must clear our bank before products will ship. Sales tax and Credit card fees: As of January 2022, we now charge 7% sales tax on our internet sales. Additionally, when using credit cards, the card processing services charge a .0375% on the total amount processed. Privacy & Safety: We value our customers privacy and typically will not save any financial information unless requested to do so. However, we would like to retain email addresses, physical addresses and phone numbers into our customer database to alert our customers of new products and promotions. Payment Methods • Credit / Debit Cards • PAYPAL • Offline Payments Payment Methods

  • Stroker Crankshafts | Gizmo Mods

The Legendary Gizmo Stroker Crankshaft "I have been building engines and strokers for over 45 years. Until recently, I was not a fan of stroking a crankshaft mainly because of the reliability horror stories. When I sent crankshafts out to be stroked, the results were always “pretty close” to being accurate but each one required unique adjustments to port timing and performance. I wanted repeatability and reliability." "To take a stock crankshaft and stroke it requires either the old crankpin hole to be welded up and the pin hole re-drilled/offset or the use of an offset crankpin. I found that many stroked crankshafts when they needed to be rebuilt, (if rebuildable), the pin clearances were less and less. Some builders weld the pin in place to keep the crank aligned for that very reason. Additionally, when relocating the crank pin, the crankshaft stuffers must remain in the same position creating more offset of the balance weights. Some builders use aluminum crankshaft stuffers which require a lot of crankshaft weight to be removed to get the crankshaft back into balance. The crankshaft mass that is removed, increases the crankcase volume which decreases fuel transfer pressure... not good." "Our crankshafts are built to be 112 crankshafts. the stuffers are located properly, balanced perfectly and crankcase volume is slightly decreased, increasing crankshaft transfer pressure. The Gizmo crankshaft is rebuildable numerous times without fear of twisting from a loose pin and our crankshaft is slightly heavier which adds more torque than a modified 85 crankshaft. My decision to have them built was due to the inconsistent reliability and longevity of past crankshafts I had built from various crankshaft builders and to add torque via mass which will not happen with a stock 85 crankshaft. " With the help of several top ranked amateur riders in the country and several years of development, we came up with the current 112 Stroker Crankshaft. Its rebuildable, proves additional torque and is balanced perfectly. If maintained properly, our stroker crankshafts consistently provide customers with exceptional service. All of the products at Gizmo are designed to add performance to your machine. Conrad Eigenmann Gizmo Mods Founder and President
